Hello Nausea-Week 7
I consider myself very lucky. Until this week I didn't have many pregnancy symptoms. There was one day at work last week where I sat down at my desk to grade papers while my students were at music class. I knew that if I placed my head in the palm of my hand and rested my elbow on the desk I would fall asleep. So, I stood up and set out materials for science instead of sleeping in class. The only way I'm really even sure I'm pregnant is that my chest is SORE. I am a stomach sleeper, but I'm trying to become a side or back sleeper to keep away the pain. Other than that, I was functioning at an almost normal level. In fact, I ran a 10K (6.2 mile) race with the baby on board. I was only about 2 minutes off from my best time (the course was pretty flat, thank goodness). Baby's first race! Not only did I wake up the next morning with tight calves and body soreness, but I was nauseous. I remembering reading that it was important to eat small meals to help curb the nausea, so I grabbed a box of crackers and immediately polished off the box. It really did help. But, the nausea continued the next few days and came on suddenly. As long as I eat something, I end up functioning well enough to finish my day. So, now I find myself eating constantly. But, I don't crave those healthy fruits and veggies that I usually like to eat. Now I crave salt. And meat. Yes, I found myself at the McDonald's drive-through to order an Angus steak wrap. How did I even know what an Angus steak wrap was? Not sure, but it was delicious. I'm excited about moving toward the eight week mark, since two months seems like some good progress.
