Forty-Two Weeks

Luke is forty-two weeks old.
His sixth tooth broke through on the upper left side this week.
He's off his second round of antibiotics and is feeling healthy and happy!

Here he is back in action at the park with Shannon and his friends.

We started the week by wishing Grandpa Rogers a "Happy Birthday."

Last week Luke started eating puffs by himself, and now he can feed himself using a spoon. He still doesn't like chicken, but I can get him to eat some if I mix it with another vegetable.
Check out Luke's  self feeding skills:

This week we celebrated Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Eve we prepared Luke's valentines to hand out at Shannon's.  He gave his friends shovels with Hershey's kisses, and the card read, "I DIG your friendship." He gave Shannon a big pail of homemade Valentine's Chex mix too.

This momma made Luke a monster Valentine box to collect his valentines. I was proud of myself for being finished with all of the Valentine preparations before 10:00 pm that night.

Right before bed, we set out Luke's Valentine's presents.

At work, I was stunned when this beautiful bouquet of flowers was delivered on Valentine's Day. This was by far the most beautiful, exotic, and unique bouquet I have ever seen.
These flowers made quite an impression!

The card read, "Love from your guys."
Smile.

After I picked Luke up from Shannon's, we went through his Valentine's "loot."
He's a lucky kid!

Jacob spoiled me with  some delicious cupcakes from "Velvet Cupcake."
Bacon (yes, that's right) and Blackberry/Chocolate

Luke was impressed by my flowers.
"Big flowers, momma!"

We gave Luke his Valentine's gifts.

The balloon was a major hit!

Before bedtime, Luke had more fun with his balloon

Luke got so many cards, gifts, and messages of love

Worn out after a fun day

Later in the week, Luke demonstrates his ability to feed himself a bottle.

And, if your arms get tired, he has another technique.
Silly, monkey!

We shopped at the mall and picked up food from Panera on Friday evening.
Luke is watchful of the many interesting sights.

Saturday we went to Shakespeare's to watch the Mizzou basketball game. I tried out a new purchase while feeding Luke. It's a plastic dispenser spoon that twists onto baby food pouches. It was wonderfully convenient for eating out. Luke had a great time eating, people watching, and hanging out with mom and dad.

See? Just squeeze, feed, and squeeze again. The spoon even rotates to close the valve if he doesn't eat all the food (like that would ever happen with Luke!). Pop on the plastic lid and you're cleaned up and ready to go.

Soon enough, Luke will be able to enjoy this deliciousness too.

Happy Valentine's Day!
