Having a Blast!

Luke's summer schedule is really filling up! On Mondays he has Kinder-music, Tuesdays he has Little Gym, and he spends the rest of the week meeting up with friends at the pool, the park, and restaurants.  If you're interested in scheduling a play date with him, we can try to pencil you in. :)

Luke was very active at his first Kinder-music class on Monday. We sang songs, played with toy foods, shook noise makers, hid under colored scarves, and had story time. Luke made me very proud when he took charge of story time by turning the pages for his teacher and pointing out the dog and balloons on various pages. There's no doubt about it; he's a teacher's son. Luke did do his fair share of peeking out windows and trying to pull the song posters off the wall, but for a one year old, he did a great job participating.

Shaking his new tambourine from Kinder-music.
He also likes listening to his new Kinder-music CD in the car.

On Tuesday, Luke had his first dentist appointment. I wasn't sure what we were getting into with this appointment, but I figured a pediatric dentist would know how to handle a one year old during an oral exam. And, his dentist was wonderful!

Even the waiting room was fun!

Luke leaned back on Daddy's lap during the exam and cleaning.

The dentist said Luke has been doing a great job brushing, and told us he can use a tiny amount of toothpaste (the size of a grain of rice) a few times a week. She also said his next set of teeth are almost through; she could feel them under the gum. Daddy and I took Luke out for his favorite meal since he did such a great job at the dentist. Here he is eating his chicken quesadilla and rice...

After we got home, he checked out his goody bag from the dentist. Here's a big smile to show off those pearly whites.

Luke is able to identify many different body parts now.
Here he's showing where his head is...

Here he's showing where his toes are...

And, here he finds Mommy's toes!

Grammy brought this doll to the hospital while Luke was being born (remember, some of us were convinced he was going to be a girl). Luke has been doing some pretend play by feeding his baby. But, notice he keeps his basketball is close by, just to show he's being manly while he feeds the baby.

We made another visit to the pool this week, and Luke LOVED it! He was like a little fish in the water. He walked right in and started wading bravely around. He tripped a couple of times, dipped in his face, and stood right back up. Although his eyes were very big, he didn't cry as he blinked the water out.

Then, we tried out his floatie in deeper water. He was a little scared at first, but got used to the feeling of floating very quickly. We had such a fun time with our friends at the pool!

Jacob headed out of town to present at a conference this week, so we sent him a video of our swimming adventure.

Later that evening we did Facetime to video chat with Daddy. Luke was so excited to "see" Daddy, and he even gave him a goodnight kiss (the wet mark was on my phone for proof).

Thursday we headed up to the hospital where Luke was born to welcome a new little friend into the world. It was our first visit there since Luke was born. Luke liked the view of the courtyard.

Doesn't Luke look like a giant compared to a newborn?

Luke's place of birth

Thursday afternoon we headed to Cape for a short visit with family. Luke loved playing at the park where I played when I was little. They still have one of my favorite climbing apparatuses, the caterpillar.

Luke had the most fun picking up sticks and rocks. He wouldn't let go of them for our ride home.

We met up with Papa Green for lunch on Friday.
Here's Mr. Blue Eyes...

Luke loved romping around Papa and Grandma's backyard while throwing rocks into the waterfall.

Luke was obsessed with Grandma and Papa's dog, Trooper. He kept following the dog and saying, "ot, ot, ot!"

Papa bought a fun toy for Luke

We celebrated an early Father's Day by grilling and playing with Luke's great grandparents.

Then, Sunday we celebrated Father's Day at home with Daddy! We gave him his presents and cards.

One of the presents Luke made for Daddy to put in the yard:

Then, onto Grammy and Grandpa Rogers to grill. Luke played outside in the dirt for most of the evening.

Check out those dirty feet, legs, and hands. Now that's how to have a good time!

Proud Daddy

Luke loved Papa's grilled steak

And, he also loved dessert! He went around the table and took bites of everyone's ice-cream sandwiches.
