What do we do before a big snow storm hits? We go swimming!
After getting dressed to go, Luke posed for a quick photo shoot...
He is just getting so big!
At the pool playing football.
And, trying out his new turtle puddle jumper life jacket. He did great!
After we got home, we bundled up to get ready for the upcoming snow.
A yummy cupcake treat.
Comfy P.J.'s from Grandpa Green. Turtle Power!
I ended up with a snow day on Monday, even though the roads weren't bad. So, we were able to fit in an extra class at the Little Gym that morning.
Hanging out.
Then, Luke went to spend the week with Grandparents. Believe it or not, I ended up with an entire week off work due to the snow. Seriously, what is a parent to do with a full week off work with no child?! I made the most of the time by catching up on things. First on the agenda was to finish Luke's Valentine cards for family. He had already done the painting with a heart shaped cookie cutter and red paint. He requested turtles on the back, so I helped him make that happen.
Then, I made a craft with his footprints and another turtle.
Since Luke loves minions, I made him a minion valentine box (an empty margarita bucket came in handy here). And, thank goodness Twinkies are back in grocery stores, because I used them to make his friends minion valentines.
His friends are one in a minion!
And, his friends get turtle cards too! Since there is only one baby (who is also the only girl) at his sitter's house, he picked out a cute cupcake toy for her. He sure knows how to treat a lady!
Luke returned home the following Friday evening, and it was time to PLAY. We spent all day Saturday playing in the snow. First, we went outside in our yard.
Dressed in his snow gear.
Headed out.
Helping shovel the driveway.
Snow is fun!
Sledding is fun too!
Then, we went to the big sledding hill at Stephen's Lake Park. Luke liked sledding o.k., but he really liked walking around and picking up snowballs.
Luke says, "BIG snow!"
We ended the evening on campus, and Luke built a giant snowman.
Just kidding! But, he did love seeing this giant creation. The college students must have enjoyed their snow days too.
Putting on some finishing touches.
Little Luke and Big Snowman
Luke still loves drawing and coloring.
We made it to a Mizzou basketball game again this year. This time it was Mizzou vs. Arkansas. Mizzou came away with the win, by one point.
Luke loved seeing Truman the Tiger from up in our seats. But, when we walked down for a quick picture he freaked out. He was seriously scared! Don't worry, we didn't stand there long, and he was fine once we put some distance between us again.
This stuffed Truman was much less scary! And, the ball made this little boy pretty happy too!
The next day we celebrated Valentine's Day. Luke walked out in the morning and immediately said, "turtle boon (balloon)." He was pretty excited about that. He also loved his other Valentine surprises: a big pack of play-doh, a magna-doodle, and I Spy hearts book.
That afternoon he came home with valentine cards and treats from his Valentine's party. He also enjoyed opening valentines in the mail. He really cracked me up when he opened one with a dollar bill and said, "MONEY!" I didn't even realize he knew that word, but he was obviously very excited he got some.
One of Luke's newest sayings is, "one more." When you read to him at night and tell him it is the last book, he holds up one finger and says, "one more!" When you give him a treat to eat, he holds up his finger and says, "one more!" Yes, you get the idea. It's just too cute. And,"one more" sounds more like "mun more," making it all the cuter. How can you resist? After Luke watched a minion mini-movie, I caught a photo of him asking to watch "one more!"
2nd Haircut! Luke's locks were getting pretty long and unruly, so it was time. But, this time he didn't want to sit in the cool car. He decided he'd rather play trucks and trains. Luckily, his stylist was willing to work with this active little boy as he played. She was seriously amazing, and there were no tears.
Check out the before (left side) and after (right side). No, I don't always plan to give him a spiky faux hawk, but it's just so darn handsome. We left the salon with a can of grape scented child's styling gel.
