Summer Time!

Let me say, we are having a true summer over here in the Rogers' house. Signs of a true summer: washing beach towels continuously, bottles of sunscreen scattered about, trips to the store to buy more swim diapers, multiple swim suits air drying over the bathroom curtain rod. The backyard is scattered with water toys, the hose, bubbles, and busted water balloons. Luke's scooter, bike, and Natalie's wagon are at the edge of the garage ready at any time. We love summer!

Luke is Mr. Independent at the pool this summer. He is able to jump off the diving board, swim across the pool, and recently learned to do a front flip and back flip in the water. He's working on perfecting his underwater hand stands, and he learned to dive off the side. Then, while working on his dives he discovered he can do front flips off the side. Such a daredevil! So, I wasn't surprised when he decided to dive in off the diving board and did great.

This little one loves the water too. She has learned to walk through the baby pool steady footed without tripping too often. When she does go under, we just sweep her back up on her feet and she carries on. No fear of water!

We had fun at Art in the Park.

Luke took his time adding ribbon to a crown he made.

We hit up the playground.

Natalie ate her first Kona Ice (snow cone). She loved it!

Luke started kindergarten summer school. He loves it, and he's thriving. While he's having fun at school, Natalie and I have been able to make it to the gym every morning. She actually likes going to the play center, and I love getting to focus on my own health.

Made it to the spray park.

Playing at the mall play center.

Back at the pool.

Luke even wants to work on his optional kindergarten work sent home.

We hit up Six Flags on a hot Sunday afternoon.

Luke rode the Scrambler, Mine Train, Log Flume, and Thunder River (all multiple times).

Natalie rode the little train and loved it.

Luke won a stuffed Mario in a basketball shooting game
(they were very nice and gave him lots of tries).

Watching brother on Log Flume.

We changed into our swim suits and tired out a few things at the Six Flags water park later in the day.  Then, when it closed, we headed back for a few more rides at the amusement park.

We ended with a few laps around the Old Time Car Track. Luke was so excited to be driving us all around. Just look at his face!

Natalie was not at all scared of Pepe Le Pew. She told him, "Hi!"
We put in a full day of fun at Six Flags!

We've been to the library several times and signed up for summer reading.

A trip to Petco to look at (not purchase) pets.

On Father's Day we drove to Lake of the Ozarks to Big Surf waterpark. I don't have any pictures, because I didn't take my phone, but we sure had a blast. Jacob and I took turns on the big slides with Luke, and Natalie enjoyed the little kids area. Luke even talked me into going on the "toilet bowl" ride. I banged my head and got water up my nose, but he assured me that it was a good time, and he continued to go on it again and again.

Then we went over to an arcade to play some pinball and ride some kiddie rides.
Natalie loved this one and kept signing "more" when it stopped moving. I ran out of quarters quickly.
