Thirty-Six Weeks

It was our first week back to work in the New Year, and it took a little time to return to our usual routines. It's always hard to go back to work after the holidays, but it was especially hard this year, after being with Luke everyday for almost two weeks.

Luke is full of new "tricks." I'm working on capturing some video of these "tricks," but he often performs impromptu, so I'll need some more time. This week he worked really hard to figure out the purpose of his tongue. He was busy sticking it out and blowing raspberries. He has also been grinding his teeth like crazy. I guess they feel strange, since they are fairly new to him. When he grinds, he makes a funny little face and moves the top teeth against the bottom ones. And, the right-side top incisor tooth is bound to break through the gum any day. Another amazing feat: Luke can stand while only holding on with one hand. He's getting stronger and gaining more balance so that he will soon be able to stand on his own. Luke has also become quite a dancer. This past weekend his Aunt Kelli bought him his first laptop computer (yes it's a toy, and it has a mouse that is actually shaped like the cheese-eating mouse). When Luke's favorite song plays on the laptop, he dances. I'd call his favorite move the "stand-up, hold-on, and bounce up and down" move.

Favorite game: tear the tissue into pieces

This week Luke became a major Daddy's boy.
He reached for Daddy and cried when Mommy tried to hold him.
Mommy was a little sad, but realizes that Luke has a pretty amazing Daddy.
By the weekend, Luke was back to equal rights between Mommy and Daddy.

Silly game: Hit Daddy in the head with a cup while pulling Daddy's hair

Such fun!

Our neighbor gave Luke a knitted Mizzou hat. So adorable!

Our neighbor also made this hat for newborn Luke back in April. It obviously doesn't fit anymore. I just love how these hats are topped off with giant pom poms! And, it's a good thing we're well past that bili-blanket.

Jacob and I went to the Mizzou basketball game on Saturday, but Luke stayed home with Grammy and Grandpa. He had a great time with them, but he missed seeing Truman the Tiger up close. Our seats weren't too bad...

This week Luke also started to venture outside the living room and crawled into a whole new play world-the kitchen and laundry room. He is realizing now that being in a pack-n-play or exersaucer limits where he can go, and he does not like it. This boy wants to be free!

When we went to Harry Potter World over New Years, we brought Luke a souvenir. He got a stuffed version of Harry's owl, Hedwig.  He has been quite interested in figuring out what's going on with his new friend.

Here, Hedwig. Try a bite of my cool plastic star toy.

Staring contest

Hug it out!

Luke and I packed away all his Christmas outfits.
This face pretty much sums up how he feels about Christmas being over.

We also packed away all the Christmas ornaments and the tree.

But, I'm sure January will bring lots of fun too!
